Chromolithographed illustration sheet for book binding.
Niort, France H. Echillet (ca. 1852). A near fine and stunning chromolithographed sheet for covering boards on a nineteenth century French book. The printer was H. Echillet whose name is imprinted on the sheet and the illustration printed into the framed panel is most likely by Victor Adam who illustrated the book. That book was published in Paris in 1852 and entitled TROIS ÉPOQUES DE L'HISTOIRE DE FRANCE. The author was Leopold Favre (pseud.). Rare in such condition. Single sheet 27.5 x 42 cm., with imprint measuring 25.3 x 35.8 cm
Near fine; folded along spine portion; closed tear along spine measuring approximately 2 cm.
